Ah, yes. He chose his words appropriately. Leopard seals are an apex predator. And I certainly haven’t come across one before.
I was spending the day out on the sea ice, to see if we could map the ice to its minimum safe thickness. Some impassable cracks in the sea ice prevented us from making it that far, but it was still a pretty spectacular day.
